KN95 masks are the Chinese version of N95 masks and are nearly
identical. On April 3, 2020 the FDA approved KN95 masks as a
suitable alternative to N95 masks and the CDC lists KN95 as a
suitable replacement when no N95 masks are available.
The KN95 designation means that when subjected to careful testing,
the respirator blocks at least 95 percent of very small (0.3
micron) test particles. If properly fitted, the filtration
capabilities of respirators exceed those of face masks. However,
even a properly fitted KN95 respirator does not completely
eliminate the risk of illness. The KN95 masks are ear loop style
mask. The masks are one size fits most.
